Swimmers make waves in Mollymook ocean swim

Tim Booth and Tim Mather swam in the Mollymook ocean swim on Saturday 11 April achieving excellent times of 36.35 and 41.16 for the 2km course. Here’s what they had to say:

The conditions were ideal with about 150 swimmers participating, water a warm 21 degrees. The race commenced with a challenging dash of 400m east through a 1 metre surf break before heading south. With a slight north easterly current running the body felt like it was running free through the water after the first turning buoy. There was a slight swell which generated a little queasiness in some swimmers on this leg which disappeared after the next buoy and the course headed slightly more to the south east across the current. The final turn released all for a final sprint of 250m to the shore. Unfortunately my legs decided it was time for a session of cramp so after exiting the water my sprint to the line was more of a limping stagger but otherwise a great day was had by all. The organisers did a great job and I would thoroughly recommend the club organise a group to go next year.

Thanks Tim for your great report.
