Swimmers make waves at NSW Short Course Championships

The weekend of 17  and 18 October saw Canberra play host to the NSW Short Course Championships with local clubs Tuggeranong Vikings and Molonglo Water Dragons both featuring high in the results. In fact Tuggeranong were the overall winners and winners of 1st Division, while we at Molonglo managed 7th overall and won the 4th Division with just 13 swimmers.

198 swimmers from 30 NSW clubs were joined by swimmers from Queensland (4 clubs), South Australia (1), Victoria (2) and Tasmania (1). Of these the outstanding swimmer was Linley Frame from the VicSwim Centre in Melbourne. Linley swam for Australia at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Her 50m breaststroke time was beaten by only one of the men (0.5sec) and her 100m breaststroke was 2 seconds faster than the fastest man’s.

The meet was organised and conducted by the NSW Branch of Masters Swimming Australia with help from Tuggeranong and Molonglo on the weekend.

Molonglo did extremely well scoring a total of 507 points. This was 143 more than our 2013 Championships result. While we had only two more swimmers than in 2013 most of the swimmers entered more events (nineteen more individual entries than in 2013 ) and even more points were gained by being able to enter 8 relay teams as against 2 in 2013. Relays score double points and as you will see in the results below each of the teams acquitted themselves well.

Results for each of our swimmers and our relay teams are attached. NSW SHORT COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2015.

Full results for the meet plus split times for the relay events can be viewed here.
