A happy bunch of wacky lappers took the plunge into Lake Burley Griffin to mark the winter sol
stice. It was more of a sprint than an endurance event, but very invigorating. Instigator Marg Hadfield swears that on that one day of the year the lake has special rejuvenating powers which can take years off your life. Well done to Marg, Tim Booth, Alison Compston, Chris Loose and David Dedenczuk for having the courage to give it a go. The plan is to do it again next year, but in the morning, when everyone can see where they are going. The event was filmed by ABC TV news and you may be able to find it on i-view.
