Members of Molonglo Water Dragons are eligible to enter Masters Swimming pool competitions from local ACT interclub swims right through to FINA Masters World Championships.

Molonglo Water Dragons is a member club of Masters Swimming NSW (MSNSW).

Masters Swimming NSW has a series of over 20 interclub swims each year including a LONG COURSE (50m pool) and SHORT COURSE (25m pool) Championship and a LONG DISTANCE CHAMPIONSHIP (400m to 1500m events).

These competitions are listed on the MSNSW website.

There is also an annual National Championship meet each year that rotates from state to state plus an annual National Swim Series where you can compete in at least 3 up to 10 competitions held each year around Australia. The results of this competition are decided by a formulated scoring system.

Every recorded timed swim by a club member is eligible for submission for the NSW and National Top 10 times lists that show the best 10 times by male and female in 5 year age group in all four strokes plus the individual medley. Times are listed for Freestyle, Backstroke and Breaststroke from 25 metres through to 10000 metres and in Butterfly and Individual Medley up to 800m.

NSW/ACT and National Records are kept in 5 year age groups for both Short Course and Long Course in these distances and World Records are kept for the events listed in the FINA website.

There is also a longer distance competition called ENDURANCE 1000 that involves completing up to 62 timed swims in a calendar year. There are awards for everyone who completes all swims.

For those who just want to get fit regardless of their speed or ability there is the Vorgee Million Metres challenge that recognises swimmers who record their total distances swum at milestones from 1 million metres to 25 million metres.

Also several members swim in OPEN WATER EVENTS in NSW, other states and overseas.

However the most satisfying competition is the one you will have with yourself. By trying to swim faster than your best time by improving both your condition and your technique you will look better, feel better and be better.
