Our coaches are for the most part fellow swimmers who volunteer to coach on a regular basis. They are rostered for sessions depending on their other commitments. Being adult swimmers they are well aware of our limitations as we age or are subjected to other stresses such as work and home.
Having a number of coaches ensures that we have an interesting and varied array of training sessions that keep us coming back for more.
Some coaches, like our head coach, have done the Masters Swimming Australia adult coaching course and the club will assist those who are prepared to give their time helping others to attend these courses.
ENDURANCE 1000 AWARDS
Most of the swims for these awards are done at the CISAC and AIS pools but members can do the swims at any time in any pool as long as they are timed by an approved timekeeper and recorded properly. Basically it involves swimming distances from 400m to 1500m plus swims for a half hour, three quarter hour and one hour in selected strokes. There are awards for individuals and clubs.
The full details of the program can be found on the Masters Swimming Australia website at Endurance 1000.
In June 2012 one of our members Geoff Llewellyn was given a special award for being the first person in Australia to complete the whole 2012 program.
